The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference, demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

SABC1, 2 and 3 show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. The world is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Good Morning with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, 'It's Not Easy Being Green.'

Demonstrations are held in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, 'We shall overcome.'

TV commentators explain that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and there are calls for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the Government drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.
The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government and handed to relatives of the grasshopper.

The grasshopper instigates a lawsuit against the ant, and the case is tried under the watchful eyes of the trade unions.

The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighbourhood.

MORAL OF THIS STORY:

Be VERY careful how you vote in 2011!!

Car Hijacker explains how it is done

Q. 1: Are most cars hijacked on order by syndicates?
Answer: Yes, I would get a phone call to deliver a certain type of car
by a certain deadline, and then we ' d go out and search for one. If
they needed it quickly, I would hijack. If I had a bit more time I ' d
steal a parked car, as it was safer.

Q. 2: Which types of vehicles are the most popular amongst hijackers?
Answer: We would get orders to steal just about anything. Double-cab
bakkies, any make, were in very high demand. Also, "G-strings" (BMW
3-series), Polo ' s, Mercedes and Toyotas. I ' d get paid a lot more for
a double-cab, around R16 000, but only about R500 to R6 000 for a car.
If it was an expensive car like the "Anaconda" (BMW 7-series) I could
get about 15 grand, though.

Q. 3: Which cars have the lowest hijack risk?
Answer: There's no such thing. There's a demand for all sorts of cars,
old and new. If the vehicle isn't sold then it's stripped for spares.
The only thing there isn't really an interest in is expensive exotics.
I once stole a Ferrari from a garage just for fun, drove it around for
a while and then left it back at the garage.

Q. 4: Do most of the cars that aren' t stripped, end up beyond our
borders?
Answer: No, a lot stay in the country. They are given new identities,
re-registered and sold here.

Q. 5: How effective are modern anti-theft and tracking systems?
Answer: When I was stealing cars three years ago, most of them were a
joke. I could break into almost any car and drive it away within
minutes. Some cars were very advanced and a lot of work to steal
though, like Volvos. With tracking systems, it was usually very easy
to find where the device was hidden. While one guy drove the car, his
accomplices would strip the interior looking for the tracker hiding
place. Then sometimes we'd place the tracking unit into a taxi and
trick the police and the helicopters into following the taxi. Nowadays
the tracking systems are getting a lot better though, with quicker
response times, and towards the end I nearly got caught a couple of
times.

Q. 6: How did you learn how to override these high-tech systems?
Answer: Experience, and learning from other car thieves. We all shared
information. If I was having difficulty with a particular car,
sometimes I'd dress up nicely and go to a dealer posing as a customer.
I'd ask the salesman how good the anti-theft system was on that car
and he would give me all the details.

Q. 7: What was your hijacking modus operandi?
Answer: We would get people in their driveways, on the way to work or
on their way home. Rainy weather is the best time to steal cars. When
it's raining it makes it more difficult for the tracking helicopters
to find you.

Q. 8: In a hijacking did you normally go for soft targets like women?
Answer: No, I could take on anyone. I was a professional. Some people
wore guns but never got a chance to use them as I was too fast. I'd
stick my gun right in their faces and they wouldn't give me any
trouble.
That's why I never shot or hurt anyone; I was against that. A friend
of mine sometimes shot people he hijacked and he used to wake up with
nightmares.

Q. 9: Which areas did you target?
Answer: Any white suburb , it didn't matter. I never stole in the
townships because people were poor there. I also didn't rob black
people.

Q 10: Is that because you don ' t like whites?
Answer: No, it's because darkies are dangerous. If you rob them, they
go to a sangoma who would "take care" of you.

Q. 11: How much money did you make?
Answer: A lot, but I wasted it all. It was easy come, easy go. Some
money would go to police and judges and prison officials in bribes. I
got caught a few times but was never convicted. Bribing a police
officer to lose a docket cost about R2 000 to R5 000. The only time I
spent in jail was awaiting trial. Then I'd bribe the prison guard to
help me escape.

Q. 12: Is this the norm, or were you lucky?
Answer: I knew how to find the loopholes and beat the system. Some of
my friends were caught and convicted to 8 or 12 years or more.

Q. 13: What made you stop crime?
Answer: I saw I had nothing to show for all those years . I felt guilty
for what I've done and wanted to achieve something in my life. That's
why I do community work persuading other people not to do crime, and
I'm also a fashion designer. I'm struggling with money now. My sewing
machine broke and I can't afford to fix it, but I won't go back to
crime. That life is a stupid life.

Q. 14: What is your advice to motorists to avoid hijacking?
Answer: Look out for people following you. Some hijackers spot a car
they want and follow the person home. Be aware. If you're suspicious,
make a few false turns and see if that car is still behind you. If it
is, drive to a police station.

Animals of YouTube sing "Deck the Halls"

Lucky escape

Oh well, it had to happen.

On Tuesday night 12 October I was greeted in my drive-way by a 9mm Parabellum SAPS pistol toting "gentleman" with four or five companions.

I was held hostage for two hours in my home while they removed what they wanted from the house and loaded it into my car which they also took. Being very productive (as all criminals are when it comes to illegal activity) they even removed the tracking device from the vehicle before leaving the scene.

At one stage one of the youngish robbers got so nervous I thought he would shoot me by accident so I patted him on the shoulder and said: "Don't worry, it will be fine". The power of self conviction.

It was only when they pulled the phone out of the wall that I knew that they would not kill me. It was a long two hours.

The main gangster, before locking me in the study, told me that my story was a sad one. A mystifying statement that was motivated, I think, from the fact that they knew that I live alone with no wife or family and no servant.

He was very polite, saying, when he left, "Good Bye".

The strangest part of the whole issue was that, over and above the R200K's worth of valuables, they also took my dishwasher and frying pan! Can you believe it?

The sad bit is that 37 years worth of BSAP research was stolen with my computers, including my back up hard drive. If I didn't know otherwise I would have said it was a CIO or NIA hit.

Being stuck with no cell phone communications, an intermittent Telcom service and no car was like being in a time warp - 100 years ago. I know now, to some extent, how life was for my grand and great-grand parents.

I hope this year will get better, so far it has been a bitch.

John Victimus

Now if all robbers would be this professional, wouldn't our country already be a better place?

Uniting the Nation through Rugby?

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_agfWrTkhHHE/TAFT81N221I/AAAAAAAAACM/90pYws9Pdgc/s320/win.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5476750926401690450" />

Strange one this - same thing happened in 1995 when the Springboks won the Rugby World Cup. It was lauded as a triumph for the nation and not just the sport. South Africans came together spanning all races and cultures.
At the time we were fresh into our new democracy and this whole series gripped all nationalities. For a change the black populace had a taste of what the predominantly white sport was all about, and I'm sure a whole lot of them got hooked.

Now we're way past the honeymoon period and especially at this juncture where Malema has been spewing racial hatred like an Icelandic volcano, once again rugby seems to be marked as the sport to heal the nation?
So the fans are delighted. Response to the semi-final of the Super 14 at Orlando Stadium in Soweto has been cautious without reason. The "whiteys" were surprised at the goodwill of the predominantly black citizens of Soweto. All the racial tension from the weeks preceding this event has all been wiped out. Or was it?

Two South African teams in the final - the locals from Pretoria being the favorites. Fifa decided that the "bullring" need to be preserved for soccer - which is a predominantly black sport. The Orlando stadium can seat close on 40 thousand spectators and was the logical choice. One that I think was thought through properly and with some pressure from SARFU. It turned out to be the right decision.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_agfWrTkhHHE/TAFQEr5lE3I/AAAAAAAAAB8/yd2WN46-kgw/s320/stadium.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5476746663293162354" />
No doubt the white supporters enjoyed this venue and all the surrounding facilities. Especially the surrounding facilities. And black businessmen want more - more of the white money. Is that what it's all about?
Somehow I don't think so. Since 1995 they've been hungry for some more rugby. Even though it's still a white sport. Not exclusively so anymore. Government pressure aside, those worthy of a place in any of the national teams have had their chance. Some survived, others not. Any sport is about ability and willingness to sacrifice.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 256px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_agfWrTkhHHE/TAFR4sujNlI/AAAAAAAAACE/0KHphzTufFE/s320/thankyou.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5476748656380163666" />
Will soccer unite us as a nation the same way rugby does?

I still need to be convinced. The only reason I say this is that white South Africans could never be bothered with soccer. Sure, there's a lot of excitement around the Fifa spectacle from all races, but the ones who really matter can barely afford the entrance fee. And that's the common township folks.

This is from a paper in UK. font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">I expect, like me, you are aware that there has never been a prosperous black led country, but perhaps just blamed their “bad luck”, or whatever, for that uncontradictable fact.

Take Haiti as an example. Before the black slaves revolted and killed all the whites and half castes Haiti had a GNP greater than most of what is now the USA. It supplied 60% of all the sugar used in Europe. Today it is a wasteland. Apparently if you Google Earth the place it is a sere, brown colour compared to the neighbouring Dominican Republic which is green and verdant.

Twice the USA has occupied Haiti, building roads, ports, hospitals and schools while putting in a functional society. The moment the Americans left they reverted to dictatorship, voodoo, witchcraft, corruption and barbarism. They did not stagnate, they regressed to the primitive savagery of their forefathers

Since the 1960s, when the Congo expelled the Belgians this has been a mirror of African regression , moving steadily southwards until the example of Zimbabwe. Once a prosperous, well educated exporter of food the population now eat rats to survive.

Will SA go the same way?

There are those optimists who say “No, we have such a strong economy, such sophisticated infrastructure, such a talent pool, that we can never sink”.

My belief is that they have not considered the root cause of Africa’s failure. A cause that is not spoken about as it is fearfully politically incorrect, and probably illegal to speak about.

To speak about it causes recollections of Hitler’s eugenics beliefs and the horrors that followed. That cause is the deficiencies of the black ”mentality”, for want of a better word.
Are there differences between races, or is race just a meaningless social construct? Until recently I believed all races were the same under the skin variations, and that perceived differences were only the result of cultural differences. I believed in a common and equal humanity.

But things did not always ring true, observable anomalies were inexplicable if all men are the same.
Why, under apartheid, did the Indians prosper, become doctors, scientists, educators, merchants and professionals while the equally oppressed black Africans remained hewers of wood?
Why are Jews more than 12 times more likely to be Nobel Prize recipients than goyim? Why do they command the heights in academia, the arts, business and science?
Why can black Africans run, jump and throw better than honkies, but why, out of a billion of them, have they never invented a single thing of any worth? Why have they ,collectively, contributed absolutely nothing to the advancement of humanity. Nothing.

Well the physical thing, the running, throwing bit is easily and uncontroversially answered. Simple, they (especially the Jamaicans) are genetically better equipped in this regard. Their muscle fibres are different and the typically have 15% more free testosterone than other peoples. That does not explain the Jewish or East Asiatic superiority in academics, science or any other meaningful sphere. Surely it cannot be genetic? That is racism.

Unfortunately, racist or not, that is proven and a fact. Google it and you will find that for over 70 years, in test after test, done by dozens of university professors and Nobel laureates plus USA government studies, Jews are the most intelligent of humans followed by East Asians. Then come westerners then, trailing by a wide margin, people of African descent.

I refer to I.Q. tests and the results of these . Jews come in at about 114 points, East Asians about 108, white Europeans 100, African Americans (with their mixed ancestry) 85 and sub Saharan Africans a lousy 70 odd.

Of course I.Q. tests have been attacked, especially by those who perform badly at them, as one might expect them to do. Detractors claim cultural bias, dysfunctional families, past oppression, poor schooling and a host of other reasons for poor black performance, but the professors defend their contention that I.Q. is largely an inherited trait, that differences are inherent, built into a person’s inherited DNA.

For every argument attacking the validity of these tests they have a host of results confirming their accuracy and typicality. Fascinating stuff if you are interested in reading up on it.
The effect of high/low I.Q. has also been studied in depth, with fairly predictable results. Low I.Q. individuals performed badly in social class, family stability, income, educational levels, illegitimate pregnancy, single parent families rate of prison incarceration, rape, violent crime etc. etc. etc.
I.Q. measurement measures different facets of intelligence and mental competence. Sadly it is in the absolutely vital sphere of cognitive ability that blacks score worst. This means they score abysmally in things like forward planning and anticipating the consequences of their actions.
It is this I.Q. (and testosterone) disparity that is blamed for the fact that African Americans are 5 times more likely to be imprisoned than white (including Hispanic) Americans, 9 times more likely than Americans of Asiatic descent and 14 times more likely to be jailed than Jewish Americans. All in line with I.Q. distributions.

Once imprisonment for violent crimes are computed the numbers become stratospheric. These are American government collated statistics, so pretty accurate. Our government in SA do not, for obvious reasons, publish similar stats, but a pound to a pinch of salt they are even more astounding.

So why the lecture on I.Q.?

Well for a start you must understand that our ruling party are voted into power by a largely moronic plebiscite. I choose the word moronic intentionally. If the cut off point for moronic is an I.Q. of 70, half the voting population would be classified as such.
Only one in 40 black SAns achieves the average I.Q. of his white fellow citizens. One in a hundred have the I.Q. to achieve university entrance requirements. That is why only one in ten blacks pass our dumbed down matric (with a pass percentage of 30% in many cases). One in 6000 black grade one learners will pass matric with both Maths and Science. Simply put, they are bloody stupid, and they rule us. Furthermore Zoooooma says they will rule us until the second coming. I believe him.
This explains why the ANC have such idiots in their positions of power and influence, the likes of Zuma, Malema, Khomphela and Cele. They are, unfortunately, the best they have! Well they are the best blacks they have, All the critical positions are held by Indians, coloureds or whites, something I am grateful for but which pisses Malema off big time .

Will this last? I doubt it. The black/white polarisation is growing and the rhetoric is becoming more extreme. Listen to the pub or workplace chatter, read the blogs and comments sections of the newspapers and it becomes obvious. Whites are gatvol at the waste, corruption and stupidity of the black elite. Blacks are demanding, as their right, the wealth of the whites by means of redistribution of assets. No matter that they have not worked for those assets, they claim them as the spoils of war.
Just in the past week the Mayor of Pretoria, Malema, a minister and Winnie have gone on record as blaming whites for sabotaging redistribution and exploiting blacks. Malema calls out “Kill the boers for they are rapists” to thunderous applause by university students Four influential ANC opinion makers who are echoing the groundswell of mutterings in the ghettoes. The natives are getting restless.

KAK KOM! Mark my words.

Things are not going to improve. They cannot, there is no reason to believe our slow slide into a failed state can be reversed with our current regime, and there is no prospect whatsoever of there being a change to governance based on meritocracy. Anyone who believes otherwise, or that the ANC can mend their ways, is living in LaLa land. They do not have the intellect.

Like the proverbial frog in the slowly heating pot we have become inured to the slow collapse of our hospitals, schools, courts, water supplies, roads, civil service and service levels. They will become totally dysfunctional shortly. Inevitably so. Those in charge do not have the mental capacity to organise things.

Our economy and Rand is reliant on short term “hot” funds from overseas that can flee at the touch of a computer button, and probably will if our Rand weakens. Conversely we need a weaker Rand to encourage exports.
6 million taxpayers support 12 million recipients of social grants, and that figure is set to rise this year. The National Health Insurance scheme will happen, no matter how unaffordable. That will push our social grant costs up to four hundred billion Rand. Four hundred billion Rand which produces absolutely no product. Inflation is set to stay and worsen. The consequence of being the biggest socialist state on earth. I do not believe the ANC has the intellect to conceptualise how big a billion is, let alone 400 billion, or what effect this will have on the economy.

You do not believe Malema’s call to nationalise the mines? This guy articulates what the hoi polloi are thinking, but the ANC leadership will not say yet. The tactic is to set the bar high, then lower it and the victims will sigh with relief and say it could have been worse. So perhaps it will not be total nationalisation but rather 51%, a’ la Zim. Just look north for revelation, Zuma does.
Who would have believed that this country of Jan Smuts would ever be headed by am unschooled, rape accused, adulterous, corrupt, sex obsessed bigot like Zuma. Anything is possible with the ANC.

Summary.

You have few years left to enjoy what is left of the glorious SA lifestyle, especially in the Cape, but understand it is not permanent. The end could be sudden as the tipping point is reached, just as it was sudden for those Zim, Zambian, Mocambican or Angolans whites. It could, conceivably, be as bloody as the Hutu/Tutsi uprising when primitive tribal bloodlust overcomes a thin veneer of inculcated civilisation.

Enjoy it while you can, and enjoy it in the Cape where the population mix is more favourable, but be aware that change is inevitable. Your children must get a world class education, because they will not be adults in SA.

Get assets stashed offshore, you and your children will need them there.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://gpsa-gpsa.blogspot.com/2010/04/this-is-from-paper-in-uk-no-punches-are.html' title='This is from a paper in UK. Personally I reckon this is just one of many indicators of the South African black not willing to share this country nor to learn from those with the knowledge to make this a better place for all.

Racism ????? or Not

Cdes can we just all unite and strategise against white people who seem to have been the greatest threat to our wellbeing and independence. I'm not talking about oppressing them but be in full control.

It undesputed "white people have shown efficiency in thier life time" and defeated black people in almost all respect of life. Cdes we must "be the change we want to see in South Africa".........i don't think we want to see our "own make" suffering like we have been for the last 300 years.

I once asked a Swedish friend of mine who happens to be white, I asked "If you were to die now and god ask if you if you want to go back to earth and live, what would you say?. My friend answered, "i would say yes". I then asked him would you like to come as a black person or white person, he said, "Hell no would come as a white person". I asked why and he said "because it think we white people are very privileged".

This kept me thinking for a while because actually it an honest answer which most of us in his position would give the same answer to. The next question is why white people are privileged. One would ask white people are privileged in what sense? Well in many senses......why they were able to defeat us in wars? Did god allowed them? Why they were having technological advances e.g guns and ships?

If we black people were equally capable why we have allowed white people to detect so many dimension of our lives. This dictactorship of massive scale has led to a an all time irreversable reaction of disintergration of a black nation Is it god or it just the inferior nature of us VS the superior nature of white people.

Cdes let unite as the ANC, COPE, UDM. AZAPO, IFP chase white people in our orginizations not by force but by conditions which they cannot stand and a simple example use of our languages etc.

Let talk black man politics on white man NOT black man on black man politics. We must see the problem here, it not COPE and it not UDM, it the 'WHITE MAN' well coordinated intellectual political strategies.

Just a thought! The gangs, which are also attacking construction workers upgrading the highway, have left a trail of terror behind them over the past three months. The gang's ambushes, which have included attacks on businessmen and a US Aid agency employee, have left at least four motorists and a security guard at a construction site seriously injured after they were shot by the robbers.

The most recent attack took place last Tuesday night when a businessman was shot in the legs as he was changing a flat tyre on his car. The robbers, who number between eight and 20, operate between the Tembisa Road Bridge and the

N1/R21 interchange between 9pm and 4am, with most of the attacks occurring near St George's Hotel. The attacks are carried out with the robbers either lining rocks on the highway or throwing debris off bridges into the path of oncoming cars. They target motorists using the north-bound lanes.

While police have known about the attacks since September, they have done little to warn the thousands of motorists who use the highway every day of the dangers. The only warning has come from the Pierre van Ryneveld community policing forum (CPF) which recently cautioned motorists about the attacks. While police claim that they are conducting clandestine operations to catch the robbers, they seem to be operating with impunity as there have been no arrests.

Businessman Jannie Schoeman recently survived an attack when he was held up near St George's Hotel. He was returning home from Midrand along the Olifantsfontein Road when he hit a pothole. "As I stopped and got out to change the tyre, two men armed with knives attacked and forced me into a field. "They stole my watch, wallet and cellphone. When I tried to escape they grabbed me and tied me up with barbed wire," he said, pointing the scars on his wrists. The men eventually let Schoeman go, threatening to kill him if he did not reach the road within two minutes. "I was terrified. I thought they were going to kill me," he said, adding that the Lyttelton police had been useless in trying to solve his attack, which had taken place in broad daylight. He said that when he offered to take the detective investigating his case to where he was attacked the policeman was not interested. "It is just a matter of time before someone is killed," Schoeman said.

US Agency for International Development employee Thobekile Finger said she and an airport shuttle service driver were attacked in September as they returned from the airport. "We hit a rock on the road. When we stopped to change the tyre, a group of men ran at us shooting. We tried to escape, but they caught us," she said, describing how a robber pushed a gun into her face and threatened to kill her. She said the men demanded their valuables, which they stole before they fled.

Henk Kaal, a construction site engineer on the Sanral R21 upgrade project, said there had been several attacks on the highway's construction sites.

"Three weeks ago one of our site guards was shot in the stomach at the N1/R21 interchange by thieves stealing batteries. "As well as attacking the construction sites, the robbers also drop rocks off bridges onto motorists travelling beneath," said Kaal.

CPF spokeswoman Willa de Ruyter said they were concerned about the attacks, "especially with the sudden increase in the past weeks and the fact that the robbers do not hesitate to shoot". CPF chairman Sampie Niemand said that in one of the attacks robbers shot a city businessman in the leg as he tried to change his car tyre. "Fortunately, he was able to drive off and stop near Irene Village Mall to get help," he said. Niemand said the attackers were stealing laptops, cellphones, money and valuables such as jewellery. He urged motorists who hit rocks or other debris on the road to continue driving to the nearest safe place if possible.

Police Inspector Duane Lightfoot said police were conducting clandestine operations along the highway.

PLEASE BE AWARE!!*

Police "shoot to kill"

Our cowboy-hatted chief of police Bheki Cele, who stays at fancy hotels and looks more like a playboy and celebrity (and by the way, cannot salute) told his force that if their life are threatened they must shoot to kill. This is great and about time. Too many good policemen and women get killed in the line of duty. But shooting a two year old kid with a pipe in his hand?

The excuse is that it looked like a firearm - goodness, it was a two year old kid! And killing a woman in her car because they "thought it was stolen"? Where were their life's threatened? What the hell is happening here? The SAPS is pushing idiots through their exams, hand them firearms and push them onto the streets to protect us?

The soccer world cup is upon us, and they're desperately trying to stamp out crime, especially serious crime. But shooting a suspect because he's running away is pushing things a bit far. Seems to me that the SAPS (re. government) has been looking for an excuse to live out their fantasies of the wild west. Idiots with guns and the "the boss said I can" attitude.

They need to get reigned in quickly. They need to understand that their fight is against crime and not South Africans in general. Collateral damage for the sake of less crime is not acceptable, especially by a police force that don't know their arse from their elbow. But what happened - the "big boss" says that it will happen. Does that mean they have license to kill before asking questions or without proof of wrongdoing?

All citizens in this country has a right to self-defense. If you end up in court because you shot a robber on your property, you have to proof that your life was in imminent danger. And you cannot shoot a criminal with a 44 Magnum either - it's not acceptable minimum force!

Now work that one out.

Crime information - Residential Robberies

Dr. Rudolph Zinn of the School of Criminal Justice at UNISA did Intensive research on residential robberies and attacks, and interviewed many arrested and convicted robbers. So did Sasol not so long ago. Now Sasol is once again in trouble and will probably have to pay another fine. Why is this money going to government? They actually made money out of this as well through a higher sales tax that the consumer had to pay all those years. What happens to that money at the end of the day - part of the Zimbabwe bail-out money perhaps?
This money should go into an independently administered account and should be applied in projects to uplift the poor communities who suffered the most out of these price fixing schemes. I wonder what would happen if these guys were ordered by the competitions board to repay the consumer? It will probably cost them more than the fine imposed on them.

And it's not only Tiger Brands and Sasol. The whole industry is rotten. Cashbuild claimed that their building material suppliers increased there prices by the same margin at the same time. Murray and Roberts and Aveng has agreed on pricing on their pre-cast concrete products. And the consumer just suffers?

This is why there are structures and organisations in place, to protect the consumer.

Yet, it carries on. Food pricing has not come down but instead keep on going up. Problem is that the consumer price index keeps on growing due to factors beyond our control and it seems that pushing up interest rates is the only thing the Reserve Bank knows. Which of course hurts the consumer even more.
Some R60 Billion of our tax money was allocated to Eskom to provide the infrastructure for current and future electricity demand. Plus Trevor added a 14% increase in electricity tariffs to help make the government stuff-up go away quicker.

This is a new construction next to Beyers Naude Drive in Johannesburg. It is not occupied and construction has not been completed.

Yet at night time most of the lights are on. So much for saving power from the First National Bank / Wesbank contractors. Any commitment from this major bank to this country?

Now Eskom wants a 52% increase in their rates.

Standby generators cost more to run due to increased fuel prices. Coal pricing has gone through the roof for which Eskom has to pay more. This is the effect that short supply on power has on mines - just look at the gold price.
Industry cannot perform. Volkswagen closed their factory and are looking at resuming only once it becomes viable to do so. Of course some industries are laying off people. We don't have power, we cannot produce. And with expenses going up manufacturers who export suffer even more.
You'd think with a devalued Rand they'll make money, but supply contracts suffer and the economy is getting a bad reputation for failing to deliver.

It's a mess. What gets me the most is that it was preventable. And what's to come will be even worse.
People will become poorer. Expenses will become too expensive to maintain. Accounts will fall in arrears, court judgements will increase, houses will be repossessed and markets will tumble. Shops will close down and jobs will be lost. Crime will increase from smuggling to muggings to burglaries to killings. Desperate people will turn to whatever brings bread to the table. Even the most positive outlook will diminish.
The soccer tournament in 2010 will go ahead amidst a hungry nation.

Sad, ain't it?

What can we do? How much more electricity can I save? I have my fridge running whilst not at home, that's it. At night the most essentials are using power for only as long as it's absolutely necessary. If solar panels weren't so expensive I would've had those already.
Yet, you travel through any metropolitan area and you see the amount of lights that are on. You travel to townships and you can't help but notice the amount of illegally connected power cables. Can someone in government please do something about this? Are they really interested?

The only solution I can see is to take away all the benefits our government officials are enjoying, half their salaries and bring them down to the average citizens' lifestyle and see how they cope.

Maybe after three months they'll re-think certain decisions and spend more time on better planning and considering all options.
Where are our leaders? Why so quiet up there?

Flower Season

As with every year, since the beginning of Gods creation, this ultimate in natural colour creation has been with us. It is awesome to see and very boring for young persons (them kiddies that wanna play PC games all the time and sit on MixIt)
There's little or close to no cellphone reception. There's not much in activities except for driving and trying to spot game amongst millions of flowers.

Traveling on the R27 towards Velddrif this national park is about 100km's from Cape Town. It's also the home of the Geelbek restaurant which serves the best Ostrich burgers I've ever tasted. The building is a national monument and contains some historical information about the area as well as a well stocked curious shop.
Located just outside Langebaan on the edges of the "lagoon" flowers are the main attraction. From August every year the army base located at the opposite tip opens their gates for the yearly "pilgrimage" of visitors eager to get a glimpse of the flowers, the game and maybe a whale or two. The area is a popular whale watching spot with whales sometimes entering the lagoon itself.
Entry fee is reasonable at R25.00 a head (for locals) and most people pack a picnic basket or the whole braai for a day out.
The best time would be from end of August to beginning September. They disappear just as quick as they appear.

Strandloper

Been here before. An open air seaside seafood eating spot. One of the guys working here gave me his account of the work they do there -
The girls don't dress properly, all you get to eat is fresh fish and you work with your barefeet in the sand - life is tough, but it's a job.

Strandloper is well-known for it's 11 course meal, mainly fish and home-made bread and jams. Then of course there's Jakes, the West Coast singer who keeps visitors / patrons entertained with typical traditional Cape songs and some of the better known Afrikaans pop songs.

The seagulls are established patrons, no strikes, no supervision, no moaning about service and diligent in eating everything and anything dished up for them. I'm still not sure if they work there or not?
You pay per head and sit on benches under old fishnets in the sand. There's no electricity and all the food is prepared on site on open fires. From smoked angelfish to lobster. The bar next door provides the drinks but it's recommended you take your own drinks.

For an experience that you'll never forget, book your place next time you're in Langebaan or the surrounding area.

Background

I've been on the internet with my web pages since the mid 1990s. First I started off with a wallpaper site (http://myqts.tripod.com) which expanded quite rapidly in the first two years. I had to find more space and at the time the guys offering free space and bandwidth, limited users to something like 5Megs. Thus we jumped to Angelfire with part of the MYQTS site published there.

Eventually my first publication on GPSA was with Tripod (http://gpsa.tripod.com). With a mate of mine doing very well with a (now) major internet player in South Africa, I registered and moved my website to CMC Networks. It's been there ever since.

GPSA started off as an outlet for my frustrations getting used to being under black rule since 1994. Not only the change of direction politically, but the assumption by white South Africans that they can now do as the black man did all those years under apartheid.
If you don't understand what I mean by that it will be very difficult to explain. What is important to know about South Africa is the immense diversity of cultures, each with their own unique customs.
What we see as barbaric (mostly due to different values), is the black mans culture. Like slaughtering a cow in celebration of whatever. What's happening now is that these customs are practiced amongst old white neighbourhoods. Obviously quite a shock to our systems.

Back on the farm where I spent a lot of my childhood years we used to first shoot the animal (preferably in the head for a quick and easy death) before slaughter. The black man custom is to kill it by panga - an agonising death for sure.
The white man does not know enough of the black man custom. From there the fear of the 'unknown'. But that's not it. Not totally.

The Dutch landed in the Cape and negotiated and traded with the local Bushman (Khoi). All of the various tribes in Africa were 'roamers' and thus no black men existed as far as the settlers were concerned until they expanded to the Fishriver where they bump into the Xhosa. The Xhosa initially traded with the settlers until they were forced to either work for the settlers or move further north.
Working for the Boer entitled them to certain priveleges on the condition that they abide by the white mans laws. They mostly did and the law was certainly on their side, even though they had no voting rights.
The fact that the white man arrived here and immediately started putting structures in place for towns and law, and then met up with a gypsey type roamer tribe(s) immediately put the black man at a disadvantage. They lived in huts constructed of straw and clay, they moved around by foot and used spears to hunt. They did not know God - which played a major role with the Dutch and later the British.

So obviously an advanced civilisation settled on the Southern tip of Africa. Numerous historic documents show that north of the Pietersburg, there were no indigenous people. Could it be that the trekkers just never saw them? The first civilisation encountered were at the foot of the Soutpansberge, an extensive mountain range in the far north of South Africa. They are still there today. To the east some more tribes were encountered such as the Phedi with the Sotho a bit more south (between Pretoria and Pietersburg).

That was a quick history lesson.

A corrupt government saw the white man (in general) starting to behave like our black government officials. No regard for the law nor for their neighbours. General law started breaking down. People did as they pleased and got off with bribes (most of the time). With the integration of previous freedom fighters into every possible government service, whether qualified or not saw the collapse of government institutions from which the ANC government is still trying to recover fifteen years later.
No-one ever expected a terrorist organisation like the ANC to be capable of governing a country, but they did. To the black man this was victory and come what may, they will rule (even though they cannot govern). In their initiation years the previous white government held their hands, making a lot of money out of it. Ex-government officials contracted their services out to an incapable ANC government to show them the ropes. Once these guys were confident enough to shrug off the white man, or purely because of hating the white race they took over and did as they pleased.

From a culture of a headman in charge of a kraal, they now had a free hand with little respect of the laws laid down by their own comrades. It was a free for all. Shaka (king of the Zulu nation) was probably far more advanced in his leadership than all the other tribes put together in Africa. The Zulu was by far the strongest nation the trekkers encountered in the 1700s. Devious and unforgiving, easy to retract on their promises as Piet Retief found out. He and his party of Boers were killed by Shaka after an agreement on land negotiations went south. Shaka changed his mind after he realised that the Boer cannot be messed with. He was scared of the might of the white man and was eventually killed for his cowardice.

The black man thinks he owes nothing to the white man. In fact, it's the white man who owes everything. The possessions, the houses, the streets, the towns, the businesses, the infrastructure and the economy. They've taken most and they're still taking. Not only material but life as well. Through brutal slaughtering to simple stabbings, they take. And they keep asking for more.
As with Zimbabwe our economy is slowly dying. There is a bright light every now and again but the pride of being South African is dying within the white community. The infrastructure we handed to the new 'owners' were immense and it takes time to destroy, even for the black man.

Personally I'm hoping for a turn around. I am fortunate in that I've dealt with some decent like-minded black people. We can work together but for the majority who are still trapped in a mindset of ignorance and their false belief of what freedom means.

Is this what they've done with their freedom? Is this what freedom means to them?
